Takedown recurve bows are a great luxury to have when you go out hunting. This is mainly because you can take them down (hence the name) after you are done using them. They are extremely convenient if you are a hunter who travels a lot because you can break these bows down and put them away until you get to your shooting location. If you are interested in changing the poundage of your bow then you can easily change out the limbs to give you a bigger bow. All you have to do is make sure that the limbs fit your models and that they are okay to go on the riser.

Takedown recurve bows typically come apart into three pieces, so they are commonly referred to as a three-piece bow. These three sections are usually comprised of the riser (the gripping section) and the two limbs. You need to make sure that you have the correct wrench to unscrew the bolts that are holding the takedown together. Once you figure out what screws you have, all it takes is a couple of twists and it will be ready to put in your hunting bag. This allows the shooter to free up a hand that would usually be tasked with carrying a one-piece bow.

You must be aware that the takedown bow is a recurve bow (traditional bow), which means that the ends of the limbs are pointed away from you. These typically require a little bit more strength on the shooters part when you compare them to compound bows (bows with cams). As with many aspects of this sport, it is all about preference and comfort. The beauty about the takedown is that you can change the limbs if they are not to your initial comfort. As you gain more strength, you can add the limbs that you initially changed, and if you get stronger, you can opt to get limbs with more draw weight.

A takedown bow gives the shooter the ease of transportation and the luxury of quick assembly. They are also very affordable, and if you take care of it then you will have a bow that will last you a very long time. The takedown recurve bow gives the shooter many options, period. You are not bound to carry the bow in your hand on the way to your hunt and you can have two free hands after your hunt. Takedowns are comparatively inexpensive, and durable.
